Bad news, my old headset that I had for only a year broke on me a few weeks ago. It was barely used and I loved it very dearly. It was comfortable, sounded good and I was planning on using it for years to come. Microphone had other ideas and decided to die. Dead. For someone who mostly plays multiplayer games online, no microphone was a no-no. So I set out to find a new headset. After searching for a few days, I decided on the Sennheiser PC 350 SE. Here’s what I think about it.

Build Quality

I was very surprised by the amazing packaging it came in. Everything was neatly put away in a very convenient carrying bag with a hard shell that protects the headphones during transport. The cups also rotate 180 degrees, making the whole headphone flat and easier to fit in said travel bag. Perfect for the gamer on the go! The microphone boom feels sturdy and I doubt it would break when flexed, although why would you do that? You monster.

Sounds good to me

Now for the real deal. I must admit I was a bit disappointed about the sound quality. The bass was inexistant and the highs seemed flat. However, after tweaking my sound card settings a bit, I found it was much better and quality went up ten folds. I was just used to the setup of a USB microphone, where I didn’t need to do any tweaking. It was just plug in and go! So keep that in mind if you decide to pick it up for yourself. Microphone quality is great! I recorded my Let’s Play of Deus Ex:HR with them and you can see for yourself how it sounds if you follow this link!

Like a warm blanket around my ears

Let’s face it, when we game, we game for real. Having a comfy headset makes everything so much better and easier to get into the groove of things. The 350 SE never felt annoying and were never uncomfortable. I wear glasses and I always felt at ease with them, even though they do press a little on the branches. It’s really nothing to worry about as I quickly forgot about it. The fact that they are circumaural (cover the whole ear) make them ideal for anyone looking for a good gaming headset.

Conclusion

Although the price tag might seem a bit high compared to other headphone, you know you are getting a quality product from Sennheiser. Overall, these could be the best headphones I’ve ever had. We’ll see if they stand the test of time, but with the excellent build quality that Sennheiser brings to the table, I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m rocking my 350 SE for the next 4-5 years.
