Cosplayer Gift Guide

Here are 10 gifts that you can give your cosplayer friend this holiday season.

1. Mod Podge

This awesome product is incredibly handy. You can use it to seal props, armor, and accessories before painting.

2. Wonder Clips

I saw these at my local fabric shop one day and decided to pick them up and try them out because I hate using needles to pin everything. These things are great. You should probably pick them up immediately. They’ll hold most patterns together while you sew and they’re super easy to use. You won’t get stabbed and you’ll save a ton of time.

3. Quilt Kit

I know what you’re thinking… what’s a quilt kit doing here when cosplayers sew? Don’t worry, everything in this kit is super handy for cosplayers. Especially the ruler, rotary cutter, and cutting board.

4. Gift Certificates

An Arda Gift Certificate is money well spent. Not only do they have a huge customer gallery, but they’re run by cosplayers. So if you’re unsure of what wig you should get for one of your cosplays, you can email them and they will be more than happy to help you.

5. Leather Paint

When I first started cosplaying I used to paint my boots and shoes with regular acrylic paint or spray paint. After a couple hours of wear my shoes would crack and peel and look like a hot mess. About a year ago I discovered Angelus Leather Paint. You can pretty much paint on any synthetic material and it won’t budge or crack.

6. Bobbin Box

These bobbin boxes are fantastic because they hold your bobbins so tightly they won’t unravel. You can find them at most fabric and craft stores.

7. Foam Sheets

Craft foam is a cheap alternative to Worbla for creating armor, and the results look great!

8. E6000 Glue

Hot glue is still my go-to glue, but e6000 is a wonderful alternative for props that need extra hold.

9. Storage

I picked this up awhile ago from Walmart and it’s perfect for holding all my sewing supplies.

10. Emergency Kit

No gift guide for cosplayers would be complete with out including some sort of sewing emergency kit. They have a lot of these floating around in Walmart in Michaels, so just buy whatever is affordable and portable. They’re handy for convention emergencies.
