Party Chat: What are Your Gaming Resolutions for 2015?

Welcome to Party Chat, the weekly Q&A where the Girls on Games team answer the pressing (and not so pressing) how, why and what-if’s of the gaming universe.

This week’s question: What are Your Gaming Resolutions for 2015?

Leah:

“For 2015, there are two major resolutions that I want to accomplish. First off, I am not much of a FPS player. I am actually pretty terrible. There is something about the first person point of view that messes with my mind. My aim is so bad it’s hilarious and my reaction time could really use some speeding up. My goal is to use Halo: MCC as my professor to teach me how to be a FPS gamer. I have had a lot of fun playing multiplayer matches of the Halo 5: Guardians Beta with Catherine Ashley and our friends @GrahfShiro and @voyceproduction and I want to be more of a help in these matches than a hindrance. So the goal is to play through all of Halo: MCC in time for the launch of Halo 5: Guardians in the fall.

The second mission of 2015, and this will benefit you the reader/viewer/person we love. I want to do more twitch streaming. I am working on getting the perfect setup for streaming on console and on PC so that we can all play, experience, and love games together.”

Catherine Smith-Desbiens:

“Not to worry about the gaming backlog and just play what I feel like playing, what I enjoy.”

Devin:

“A gaming resolution is a little difficult for me to pin down as I’ve always been a very diverse gamer. Genre and Generation don’t tend to hold me back. Rather than focus on what I’ll be playing, I think my resolution should be based on how I play.

I’d like to update my gaming set up, in particular my computer to be able to handle a higher level of PC gaming as well as streaming for the enjoyment of others. Gaming has always been slightly social as my family did it together most nights, and in recent years of living alone have lost touch of that. I’m hoping getting into streaming on twitch can help me get that social feel and meet a few awesome people in the mean time!”

Catherine Ashley:

“Okay, so. Game plan for 2015. Well, since i got a shiny new PC I want to start streaming way more, and also maybe stop being such a completionist with games. Rather than put over 100 hrs in one game *cough* DA:I *cough*, put less hours in more games! More games = more fun.”

Simon:

“Finish what I started. So often, I buy a game, play it for 10-15 hours, then shelf it, never to be loved again. I think this comes from my MMO mentality, whereas you can never actually FINISH the game, there’s no end to it. So this year, I’m going to try to finish at least half the single player games that I play. I have to admit I’ve given myself a rough start with Dragon Age, but it’s so awesome and enthralling that I think it might actually be the easiest of them all. Oh, and in the same vein, stop buying games on sale from Steam. Just, stop it Simon. Stop.”

Alicia Alexandra:

“This year I want to make an effort to spend more time with games I truly enjoy by sharing them with others (via streaming). Building relationships within the gaming community is important to me and it’s something I want to devote a lot of time and energy to in 2015.”
