Welcome to Party Chat, the question and answer post where the Girls on Games team address the pressing (and not so pressing) how, when, why and what-if’s of gaming culture.
This week’s question is: What limited edition/hard to get/etc. console (handheld or otherwise) is your dream to own and why?
Simon:
“100 the Eevee special edition 3DS. Eevee is one of my favorite Pokemon and the design was really awesome. It only ever came out in Japan and was only purchasable by a select few people. I love the color, I love the decal, I love EVERYTHING about it.”
Leah:
“I want a solid gold PS4! Anyone that feels like getting me a present can pick up this sparkly console that is made up of 226 grams of 9 karat gold for $13,699 USD by Italian jeweller Gatti.”
Alicia Alexandra:
“Everything about the ‘Tales of Symphonia Pak’ LE Gamecube is just adorable to me. From the mint green color to the promotional image on the disc tray cover. Released only in Japan and France, this adorable addition to Nintendo’s colorful range of Gamecubes can still be found online, but finding one in-box with the matching controller is another story. That doesn’t stop me from pining over it though.”
Catherine Smith-Desbiens:
“All the gameboys. Every single one of them. I just love how Nintendo tastefully creates their limited edition handhelds with the right choice of colours and overlays, the never look cheap or kitch. I see them and get giddy as fuck and want to buy them all.”
Catherine Ashley:
“I don’t know if this was/is considered hard to get or not, but as a kid I used to pine after the Pikachu N64.. the one with a 3D Pikachu popping out on top. Fuck, did I want that. We already had the regular one, so the parentals said no. Womp womp. I already have two limited consoles on hand, the Halo 3 Xbox 360 (which is muerto) and my Gears of War 3 baby that’s still alive and well.”
So, do you have a dream consolse? Let us know in the comment section below or on Facebook and Twitter.
