DreamHack is a well established European series of LAN and eSports events; calling themselves the largest digital festival in the world. This year, they decided to take on North America: firstly in Austin, Texas back in May and secondly in Montreal, this past weekend. Of course, Girls on Games was in attendance for Canada’s first DreamHack.
DreamHack Montreal‘s offering was diverse. The expo zone itself had everything from VR demos, hardware vendors, tabletop games, retro video games and indie game studios. Competitions ranged from BYOC’s (LoL, CSGO, Hearthstone, Rocket League and more), to console (SSB, SFV) to the much anticipated Starcraft 2 WCS Circuit Summer Championships. 32 of the best pro SC2 players competed for the $150,000 prize pool and a spot in the WCS Global Playoffs.
