Street Fighter IV was a juggernaut, a game perfect in almost every way. It’s generally regarded as being one of the best games of its generation, and most certainly the best fighting game of its time. However, as good as it was, it came out in 2008, before Twitch, before the explosion of eSports, and Capcom felt like it could release a game that was built from the ground up to better fit the needs of today’s market. If I asked you about NIER, you’re reaction would likely range from “Huh”, or “What?”, or perhaps some indescribable string of syllables meant to convey confusion.
